Thank! Awesome App for learning!!! Thx a lot!!!
Its a great tool for learning and checking out most of the bones. By "most" I mean that not all of the bones have great detail. For instance the sphenoid is shown as just a cross section of the cranial vault, it shows some features, but a stand alone 3D image of the sphenoid would be great. This goes for all of the bones of the cranial vault, you cant just look at the frontal, parietal, or occipital bones by themselves, they are articulated with the rest, which is great, but if you need to learn visually and look at all the features of the bones inside and outside, you might be disappointed with some of the bones. Also the Os Coxae are missing, you should be able to view these as stand alone bones because they have a lot of features that a professor might test you on. Other than a few disappointments, I would recommend this app to anyone who needs to learn the skeletal system, its the second best thing (other than actually holding the bone in your hand).
I had purchased this for the hopes of having good comparative images for my human skeletal classes in university. While I understand that not all images can be great, I found that when zooming there are two levels. In and out. In is a little blurry and out is too far, at least for what I need it to be. The inability to slide the image to see another part of the slice really does not help at all. All things considered I do think it is good for the basic user. However, someone who needs it for a greater reference profile will likely not find what they are looking for. Dental formations are also not very clear, nor are you able to only have the maxilla or mandible for dental comparrisons. Again, maybe I was under a different impression of what I would get for my $15, but I would have preferred something in greater visible detail.
Everytime i think im done with the skeletal system it haunts me. I have a human atlas; however, the skeletal system app allows me to see all features of the bones which is required for med school, pre-med, etc. Im very glad i got this, worth every penny. If you are planning to go the medicinal route, you wont regret getting this.
Maybe before was good nowadays there are much better applications as essential skeleton that is the same developer with better resolution and more performance. To date it is not advisable to buy it
I was just looking for something fun and I am always interested in medical stuff. I thought that the program would be a little more user-friendly than it is. Certainly since this is the initial launch of this app (been at store 6 days now), the future of the Graphical User Interface will certainly improve. I had a hard time figuring out how to navigate the skeleton. I finally figured out how to rotate horizontally, and it took a few more minutes to learn how to spin the skeleton vertically. In other words, read the instructions thoroghly (maybe a few times) and you will have a much better experience. When you click and drag on the skeleton model, do it slowly and have patience as it seems to lag a bit. Now I would like to learn some of this medical stuff but geez, look at how technical and how many of the names that are listed on the sample screen shots above. Too technical, I wish there were a "stupid person" version, perhaps a kids version, something I could more easily learn something. The window space itself is stubborn and wont resize unless I full-screen the app, but then it wont actually full-screen, it stays vertical, at least for me at this time. I did just purchase it and spent about 15 minutes on it and am now writing this review. I was hoping for something a little more fun. This is definately for a professional, a doctor or other medical professional. I really wish I knew more and then I could actually make an attempt at playing one of the quizzes that they offer. I also dont like the first tab on the bottom "3D Apps" is just an advertisement for some of their other programs that this company makes. I dont like that at all, especially since I paid $10 for this app. Their ads should be buried under the Settings near the help and/or the "About" the program. I do have a 27" iMac so my resolution is 2560x1440 along with another 2 more monitors attached, so I hope that doesnt hinder the performance of the functionality of this app, I especially wish I could actually go full-screen so the entire screen (that the app is placed on) would go full of skeleton and black background. They also need to pull 3 windows together in to one window. I hate it when they have multiple windows, each having different types of tools or something in each one, so you have to be so careful moving them around, it is such a pain. Overall, this is good for you if you are training to be a doctor. I actually thought I was buying an App for my iPad, so I didnt even get what I wanted at all. My stupidity for that mistake (Ive done it before, Ill do it again).
I purchased this app to help with my studies and I think its fantastic. Found it easy to navigate and and especially like the scalpel and zoom features. Also, the quiz feature is multiple choice and allows me to select the systems and areas I want to be tested on. Definitely recommend.
I am a retired physician and I thing this is fantastic.
Dont waste your money buying this for OS X, even at half price. What youll get is a mobile app that has not been upconverted to the desktop. It might be fine on the iPad, but it is not a desktop app.
This would be a truly wonderful app if it were ported well to the Mac. Im sure it works great on the iPad, but it doesnt interpret trackpad gestures on my relatively new 17" MBP. I cant zoom out by "right clicking" as they put it. The secondary mouse button gesture doesnt work with the track pad so Im left clicking the home icon to zoom out, which would be OK - if it worked. Clicking on the home icon doesnt zoom out, at least not after using the app for more than 60 seconds. Zooming out works once or twice then stops working. Futhermore, the app doesnt understand the trackpad enough to slice sections. Overall, I am disappointed because I think to use this I have to haul out a mouse and set it up - JUST for this app. I simply havent had time to do this level of beta checking for the developer. I want to dispose of mice since the trackpad is so responsive and accurate as a human interface. But this app makes it almost impossible to do basic navigation using the trackpad. I have a MacBook Pro - not an iMac. I need to use the trackpad. My rating would instantly go to a 4 if the app simply understood the trackpad.
Waste of money.
The clarity upon the bones, especially zoomed-in is wonderful, as are the soft-tissue attachments, but try increasing the window size and youll find nothing but frustration. The rotation has a serious lag, and youre limited to fixed windows of vision. Ideally, I need to be able to create a marquee window of any size on the mini model and see the blow-up in the big screen (which I should be able to increase the size of, but cant). I want to love this program, but cant until these things get fixed. * for reference, Im using an iMac
This is a very useful product! I purchased it to assist me with my studies and it has worked incredibly well. Excellent app for those of us who are more visual learners! Definite A+, this app is simple to use and multifunctional.
Great Update! Thanks for the work.
Amazing application, but lacking numerous major ligaments, articulations, and joints. One of the main reasons I bought this app was to study for kinesiology. Makes it difficult to study the different articulations and joints if this app doesnt recognize the Scapulothroacic Joint or the Radioulnar Joint.
I am a pre med student, and have been looking for something like this for awhile. Its a great way to brush up on anatomy, quiz yourself, and learn. Very excited to use it!
This app, as the muscle pro app, would also get 5/5 stars if not for the issue with the public notes. Whenever I try to access them, a pop up window appears telling me to connect to the internet when I am already connected and using it flawlessly.
There is nothing that these guys left out. Its so comprehensive and so interesting. Definitely recommend it
I downloaded this program onto a 17 inch Mcbook Pro, only to find that the application only filled a quarter of the screen and could not be enlarged. I suspect that they have ported this from the iPad version and couldnt be bothered to adapt it to the Mac screen. I consider this dishonest and am actively seeking a way to get my money back.
Probably the best skeletal app available, but the quiz really needs to be fixed, half the time you cant tell where the pins are pointing to, and the angles that are used for the quiz make me want to scream sometimes….just awful. Good app but with some improvements could be GREAT.
